Media, Candidate and Selection Training.
Politics is a contact sport, and often the first blows land in the studio. Oak Insight trains candidates and public figures to survive, and then to win, in front of a camera, a microphone and a selection panel.
We are not academics teaching theory. Between us we have run press operations through five general elections, whipped a governing party through its hardest votes, and built a candidates' operation from nothing. We have briefed people going into the toughest interviews in British broadcasting, and we have been the ones asking the questions too.
Who we are:
Rt Hon Chris Heaton-Harris. Former Government Chief Whip. Two decades in elected office in Brussels and Westminster. There is no selection process and no career-ending mistake he has not seen at close range.
Kirsty Walmsley. Former Head of Candidates for Reform UK. She built and ran the process that assessed thousands of would-be parliamentarians. She knows what panels look for because she designed what panels look for. She was also the Parliamentary Agent for Conservative MPs and was a high profile by-election candidate for Reform and has run several national and local campaigns for the party.
Gawain Towler. Former Director of Communications for UKIP and Head of Press for the Brexit Party and Reform UK. Twenty-five years putting politicians in front of hostile journalists and getting them out alive.
What we offer:
The crib sheet. Free. One side of A4. The essentials of preparing yourself for assessment and media scrutiny. Just e-mail us and we’ll send it to you directly.
Group media training. £300 plus VAT full day, £200 plus VAT half-day.
Small-group sessions covering interview technique under pressure, message discipline, handling the hostile question, broadcast and radio practice with playback, and panel and hustings performance. You will be interviewed, filmed, and made to do it again until it is right.
One-to-one intensive. £750 plus VAT per 2 hour session. The full team, working only on you. We start with where you are, find what will trip you, and fix it. Suitable for candidates preparing for a specific assessment, selection or broadcast appearance.

A note on integrity:
Where a member of the Oak team holds any role in a party's candidate assessment process, that team member recuses themselves entirely from the assessment of any candidate who purchases our training, and this is declared in writing to both the party and the candidate. We train people to win on merit. Nothing else would be worth having.
